I finally uploaded something once more!
I was... not so much struck by inspiration as I was free from art block momentarily, so I finally decided to push through and finish this. I wanted to prove that I'd improved in many different ways but I still have a long way to go.
...Let's just call this a step in the right direction though and move on, take any lessons from this and apply to the next piece rather than agonising further. I'm thinking of opening up commissions and I don't want to do that until I know that every piece of work I do for actual paying customers is to the best of my ability

Holy crap, this entire painting makes me cry tears of envy. That background, with the beautifully rendered cliff and the delicate play of light and shadow, and the water! With the sun reflecting off it and the changing colors of the sky and clouds! Damn.
Not to mention the dragon and the changing shades of it's scales, with a hit of metallic reflection, or the lovely rider and THOSE AMAZING FOLDS OF CLOTH SHADED AND HIGHLIGHTED PERFECTLY.
